Hai, I'm a freelancer and i completed my bachelors. I,m from Hyderabad, India. Please guide me to excel through VFX as my career. I really hav some questions.

1.Is doing Masters in Animation and visual effects better than doing a course at pixelloid?
2.Thoought of academy of art university , but couldnt afford it. So planning to take a 10 month course at gnomon. Is it the right decision?
3.Is India fine for the specialized course or U.S?
Please guide me in the right path to climb the steps of my career.
Thank u.

I have hired Indian Freelancers for some grunt work in the past but that was really boring tedious stuff that I didn't want to do myself.

Westerners will hire you if you are willing to work for less but from my experiences, most Westerners prefer to hire other Westerners for more creativity based projects just because they understand the culture better. (nothing personal)

If you want to do more interesting work, my advice would be to move to the US or Australia and try and get linked up with an agency because as an Indian Freelancer you are very limited.

It might depend on the budget. Although, I have it backwards. I'm a writer and not a programmer or data specialist, but I must admit I've had clients from India, not the other way around. I think there is many variables as far as securing work no matter where in the world you live.

1. Yes a Masters in Animation can take you a lot further.

2. Well if you can't afford it then you can't afford it but if there is some way you can scrounge the money together then academy of art University would be the way to go. It's a worthwhile investment in your future.

3. The US is more highly regarded internationally. Indian Universities are fine, if you are looking to get work in India but if you want to work internationally then study in the US.

Just about every country in the world has great schools and poor schools. What exactly is your overall vocational objective? What kind of job or career would you specifically want as this a quite a broad focus.

Hi, i'm just brand new in this site :)

I have the same questions about where to study some post-grade or a course. Actually, i'm studying audiovisual design in Argentina, but my objective is to learn and work in a future as 3D generalist or VFX. I know that the U.S is the best place to study this career, could some recommend me a university where to study? So i can have some references of places and prices as well.

¡Thanks U!

This is a very competitive field but if you have a passion for what you do and you have at least some talent you could accomplish great things. I wish the best for you. Just be open to whatever opportunity is destined to come your way.

I agree. You have to be open-minded about opportunities, and I will add you don't necessarily need a huge budget to get a quality education. I hope the best for you and anyone else who wants to pursue this highly exciting field.

Thank you very much! It's very hard to succeed in this field but i think this is my passion... By the moment, I'm heading some projects for the university that i'll be posting later to share it...

All this info is very useful for me, thanks!

VFX training in the US is damn expensive, no matter how you look at it. But schools are cropping up like crazy in India recently...I don't know how expensive those are, comparatively -- have you checked them out?

It's been a while since you first posted this question, I just noticed. Did you end up taking the course at Gnomon? If so, how was it? Did it get you where you wanted to go in your career?
