What does HTML5 mean for Flash?

I keep hearing from my graphic design buddies that Flash is outdated and it's going to become obsolete once html5 becomes more mainstream. My question is... If you're an animator and you use Flash, then what program would you use for creating HTML5 animations?

I don't know myself, to be honest. I did hear that HTML 5 would replace Adobe Flash. Perhaps Adobe realizes this, and maybe they use HTML in their current Flash? I don't know. All I know is I'd be grateful to even have the time to catch up on HTML4 let along HTML5. LOL

I think I heard that Flash could become obsolete. I might actually be relieved because then I can just focus on advancing HTML and not worry about Flash.

Maybe this is true. However, I highly doubt that Adobe would allow Flash to phase out any time soon. I would be surprised if this happened.

It's very well possible that Flash will be outdated for some applications. However, I'm sure Adobe could think of a way to upgrade it to make it useful if they wanted to.
